My fundamental viewpoint is pragmatism. I greatly appreciate Heidegger's perspective, as he believes that philosophy should return from the heavens to the earthly. I think the practicality of all things themselves is their true value, so I want to create a short film to explore the meaning of pragmatism.

 

I believe this project is worthwhile because it will use satirical comedy to delve deep into the philosophical concept of pragmatism, conveying it to a broader audience through visual media. Pragmatism emphasizes the ability to apply practical solutions, which holds significant importance in today's society.

 

I will complete my project through the following steps:

 

a) Plot: A hungry, impoverished man stumbles upon a world-exclusive golden ticket.  Filled with dreams, he enters the place, hoping that he'll be able to have a full meal every day in the future. However, when he returns to the real world after claiming the ultimate prize, a child questions his prize in a manner reminiscent of "The Emperor's New Clothes."

 

b) Script Development: I aim to emulate the style of Charlie Chaplin, combining critical thinking with experimental filming techniques while maintaining a certain commercial appeal.

 

c) Pre-production: I will create a detailed shooting plan to ensure everything proceeds smoothly within the budget. I intend to collaborate with my classmate, Haoran Zhang, who shares a similar background. We have already exchanged ideas regarding the script and started detailed prop and scene designs.

 

e) Release and Promotion: Once the short film is completed, I will submit it to film festivals and subsequently choose appropriate platforms for distribution. Through social media, online forums, and other channels, I will promote and generate interest and discussions around this subject.
